Location accogliente, con tutto il comfort moderno, ma il fascino di altri tempi che ti aspetti da una Locanda nel borgo. Camere comode e spaziose, curate e molto pulite. Buona colazione, con la giusta varietà di dolce e salato, in un ambiente raccolto, ma funzionale. Personale cortese. Sicuramente consigliato se volete una sistemazione nel centro storico.

Behind the façade of a 14th-century building that once housed a convent, nestled among the narrow streets of the Sant’Agnolo district, lies Hotel La Locanda, now one of the city’s historic hotels. Its rooms are designed to suit different types of stays, yet all share a wonderfully retro style.
Originally a convent, in the second half of the 18th century the building became the residence of Anton Filippo Giachi, a Volterra historian and scholar of Etruscan culture. He had Etruscan cinerary urns, lids and Hellenistic funerary chests placed on the façade, featuring depictions of mythical animals and journeys to the Underworld, all discovered during excavations he personally conducted.

Can I arrive by car?
The hotel is located in Volterra’s historic centre, within a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) that is active at certain times and during specific periods of the year. Guests may still drive up to the hotel to unload their luggage and provide their vehicle registration number at check-in so that it can be communicated to the local police. We recommend coming to the hotel first to unload your luggage and then, once you have received more detailed directions, proceeding to the nearest car park.

Due to the hotel’s central location within the city walls, we do not have a private car park. However,
there are several nearby public car parks that cannot be reserved. The main car parks are:
